COPS TURN OFF 'PANTY-STEALING' TV MAN

By KIERAN CROWLEY

September 1, 2001 -- A Long Island satellite-TV workman was arrested and charged with stealing the panties of a woman while he was installing a system in her home, police said.

The bizarre crime occurred last Friday in Ronkonkoma, when Brian Poucel, 28, of Bluepoint, was working in the home of the female victim, who asked that her name not be used.

When the young mother walked into her upstairs bedroom, she saw Poucel going through her underwear drawer and "putting a pair of her panties in his pants and sniffing another pair he had over his head," said her lawyer, Andrew Siben.

"She came running down the stairs, screaming - she was scared," said her father-in-law, who owns the home.

Poucel fled but was grabbed by a burly neighbor, who held him for cops - who allegedly found a pair of the victim's panties in his pants.

He was charged with petty larceny - for theft of the $10 undergarments.

The woman's father-in-law said he was outraged that Poucel's boss billed him for the full $600 price of the DirecTV installation after what happened. Poucel works for a local TV company that does contract work for the satellite giant.

Siben said his clients are considering a civil lawsuit against the TV firm and Poucel.

I formerly installed satellite TVs and I know that panty-sniffing is an essential calibration for optimum reception.

You should see what washing machine installation requires!

This kindof reminds me of a phone installation man who came when this house was first built. The original order for the lines had been completely messed up and my office had SO's phone line rather than mine and a dedicated computer line.

The guy was wearing pink lipstick, although somewhat sloppily applied. He not only didn't fix the problem, but he made things worse. A female installer came a few days later and fixed the whole thing.

I mentioned this pink lipstick to a few folks and since his visit was in the early afternoon, we mutually decided that he'd had a lunchtime tryst.

Panty-sniffing is a constit utional right.

And, in a preliminary study by the Cleveland Clinic, it has been shown to strengthen the immune system
