PTO mounted water pump

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have a pump for my tractor's PTO, but it seems to be frozen up. I can't get it to turn by hand. It's pretty small. I would think that just hooking it up to the PTO and trying it could be disasterous. It looks like there is some rust inside.

Does anyone know how much something like this costs new? I would think it would be better to get one that won't rust inside. It's so small, I would think they wouldn't cost much.

Anybody know where I could buy something like this? Is there a place that sells this sort of thing over the internet?

I tried searching with Google and only found really huge/expensive pumps.

What brand? Most modern pump companies have rebuild kits. New you looking at $150 and up depending on your application needs.

Paul get you a bucket and put the pump in and cover it up diesel may take a while but maybe not. when you get it freed up when you get thru useing it run some water thru it,let it dry then pour some oil in it and turn it by hand. thats the way i do mine when i forget to clean it after use. I got the old pump freed up! I soaked it all night in wd-40. I took the bolts off the back although I could not get the backing off and I twisted and jiggled for over an hour. Finally it gave a pinch. Enough to jiggle more and more until finally it would turn. More turning and it got freer and freer. I'm now flushing the rust out of it.

It's a hypro 6500c - the "c" must be for cheap rustable parts.
