A Magic Moment-Bah

During the 1990 World Cup in Italy a magic moment occurred in the game between Brazil and Scotland. At half -time the camera was panning around the ground and settled on a bunch of Jocks in the kilt with the banner "Broch Rubber Mannies Tour 1990", at that instant a piper opened up and led the supporters on a improvised conga line,I shouted to the wife, Jeez June its Sandy Whyte piping the boy`s . It was a fantastic scene and one that has forever lived in my memory, until today that is. To explain Sandy is one helluva guy, played football for me until 1991 when he was a victim of one of the most horrendous tackles I have ever seen and heard, it left him a broken man and it took ages for him to recover , with the help of the pipes, his 3 children he did, tho football was out. He came to the plant 4 weeks ago as an process operator, and Sandy being himself was immediatly accepted, a great guy , a great friend , fancied my daughter once. Anyway today newsing with others about we got on about football and I brought up his moment of glory at the WC in Italy. Sandy who is as honest as the day is lie then confessed to all and sundry that prior to half time he was approached by a BBC guy to brief the fans, and at a given signal , give it wally on the pipes and lead the boy`s, Eleven years on ,the moment was over, c`mon there must be loads out there with experiences like that to cover a Newcastle free w/e
