deisel truck update : LUSENET : A Village Commons : One Thread

ok,, I replaced the fuel line,, from the injector pump,, with a clear line. Checked it in the morning, no air in there,, I started it,, it ran for a few secs,,stalled,, and the line was full of air. I pressured the tank,, but found no leaks. Is there another way to check,,, or do I just go and start replaceing lines? Anything else I should do to narrow it down?

Rather than replacing parts until you guess right, take it to someone who specializes in diagnostics. It'll likely be money well spent relative to replacing good parts again and again. Good luck. I hope this helps.

Have to agree with Gary, When in doubt take it to a professional. I too hate to part with hard earned bucks, buuuttt in this case it may save you a few bucks and will for fact save time.

Stan: What year and make is your truck? We have a Dodge diesel, and hubby has found it a great help to get a repair manual through the dealer, that lists a lot, and I do mean a LOT of trouble shooting fixes. Public librarys also have a lot of manuals, not the dealer type, but may have a list of possible causes. Jan

It sounds to me like its sucking air from between the injector pump and fuel tank. I had a VW rabbit with a deisel with a similar problem. Another VW I had was sucking air thru a bad seal in the injector pump.

Stan: A while back I had a similar problem with a VW diesel. The problem turned out to be a bad seal in the injector pump. It was bad enuf to suck air thru it but not bad enuf to leak fuel.
