Terminator Seeds

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Eveyone may want to think about attending 2nd Annual Wisconsin Annual Seed Saving Exchanging, or at the very least purchasing heriloom seeds NOW!

I read an article yesterday (mistakenly deleted it) about Terminator seed technology, and it's nearing implementation. Our friendly feral govt. is actually a partner in this joint venture.

I will find and post.

I read about them as well. Here are links to different stories about them: http://www.globalissues.org/EnvIssues/GEFood/Terminator.asp http://abcnews.go.com/onair/CloserLook/wnt990802_hayes_story.html They've known about this since 1998: http://www.earthisland.org/eijournal/fall98/fe_fall98terminator.html How these seeds work: http://www.psrast.org/terminexpl.htm

These sights are just a start. Lots of info out there

Dear Lew, I agree with you completely, Monsano is working right now to make seeds that will not reproduce themselves, Forceing the wheat and corn and soy farmers to buy new seed every year. And we are seeing more and more hybrid seeds on the market, We should all learn how to take and keep seeds from year to year, Buy the non hybrids now, while you still can, You know the new world order, and the world government and all that bull, who want to control the food supply. who ever controls the food, has us by the tail. Go buy heirloom seeds now, Love Irene

One itty bitty question here. Will Terminator pollen drift and contaminate heirloom seed stock? If so, we are all doomed.

Have you read about the farmer's who have found the biotech stuff in their fields? One farmer in Canada is being sued by Monsanto beacuse the pollen from some of there corn went into this farmer's field and pollinated his corn. They say he is at fault!

I also believe something like that is happening in the midwest.

Epona, I just read the last site of the ones you posted and.....I'm speechless. A very good explanation of the Terminator Seeds and Daff, if you read it, it will answer your question. Well worth the time. I never fully understood the Terminator Seed and how it was different from the Genetically Modified ones, this article does a great job in explaining. Mind boggling to think of all the ramifications. Thanks Epona for posting the site. Gonna check out the others.

Oh...I've known about the Terminator seed technology, but what I didn't know is how DEEP the Feral (Federal) govt. was into it. That's what so striking. They're WORKING with them on it!

All it does is affirm my attitude AGAINST big govt. ESA, CARA, etc...., and can't understand why anyone would want this govt. to be the govt. of the people!

You know, in reality, the Government might be the least of our worries. In the site that Epona listed above, it was stated that Tetracyclene, coated on the seeds, is what in effect makes them terminator. (the article states how). Well, since Tetracyclene is an antibiotic, if the seeds drop to the ground, what happens to the bacteria, (which we all need to live), the micro-organisms, insects, etc. that feed on decaying debris? Possibly nothing, but do they really know? To tell you the truth, I don't think man is smart enough to start messing with the workings of Mother Nature. Makes ya wonder of the long term effects. I'm going to stock up on heirlooms.

<< Anne,

Ah...lets see.

1. The govt. is in kahoots with the Terminator seed company. 2. There could be major issues with Tetracyclene and other chemicals. 3. They don't know whether there could be issues, but push it anyway. 4. Mosanto has a reputation of not knowing or not being upfront about chemicals in their products. 5. Mosanto has been known to be wrong what their products do and don't do. 6. Govt. has been complacent in Mosanto's push to sue farmers whether in or out of this country. 7. Mosanto has stated that they OWN tomatoes and other products.

Yea, I guess I shouldn't be concerned about govt. when they're in kahoots and the forefront of this technology!

Oh, Lew, I totally agree, I just meant, which I guess I didn't state it correctly, that if they get done, what they're proposing to do, the consequences could be a nightmare and pale in comparison with just the greed of the big boys. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

-- Annie (mistletoe@kconline.com), August 30, 2001.

Sorry Annie for being so sarcastic. Just get too many people who feel the govt. is my friend, and they are not. And the sooner people realize it, the better off they'll be.
