Hi all. Yaeah, can you play any game you want, or are the competition games chosen from coordinators "votes"? Surely there must be a limit for games to compete. If you're only one to play a game do you still get gold? How about North America/South../Europe/Asia/Australia/Africa competition, some of these grouped together...P.S. Very amusing #marp log, I didn't understand much what you guys were talking about??... but funny to read it anyway. Oh yeah, I hope nvram can still be used in a game like HS, like Alex (and me)prefer, dare to delete my score!#~(!!!!#¤%%/&/!! :)

http://marp.retrogames.com/olympiad/rules.htmlThe games will be chosen by a committee through the applications we recieve. If we have to limit the number of games, we will - although I'm guessing the limit will be about... 50? I don't know yet.

I have a bad feeling about this:
"d. Version(s) of MAME allowed[...]it MUST playback in MAME and MAME32, unless the version is 0.51 (m37b15) or higher - then it MUST playback in MAME only. (MAMEW) "
If "some drivers call the rand function to generate random numbers and the implementation of this function depends on the library of your C compiler, which means that gameplay will differ and inp files won't be portable across platforms"(Example:Solomon's Key),that means for some games we CAN'T have a valid recording since it MUST playback in MAME and MAME32(they are like the day and night you know)or MAMEW when a person with minimum of "mental power" play with DMAME (Reason:much more faster).
I think is a hassle this thing...

Kale, why would any driver need to call a rand() function for? The CPUs, video hardware and so on don't contain random elements. Any randomness the game uses is produced by its own code. Also, a 'person of minimal mental power' is more likely to use MAME32, and wouldn't have the faintest idea how to use the DOS prompt. Most games (there are a few exceptions - Klax and Pipe Dream come to mind) produce recordings that are perfectly compatible between MAME and DMAME.

A:"(there are a few exceptions - Klax and Pipe Dream)"
B:Sorry for the bad word:nothing is random in CPUs,I know
C:Explaination:The "mad" drivers generate totally different numbers between MAMEW,DMAME,MAME32,XMAME,MacMAME,IMAME and StretchMAME32. What it means? That if you record for Solomon's Key with MAMEW,it surely doesn't work with DMAME and the others.
D:I have a non-driver Joypad;I can't use it with MAMEW!
E:"normal" people use MAME32 because is really well known(even more that MAMEW/DMAME),but it's really bugged(a lot of games crashes).
The best choice is always EmuLoader...
