Anyone ever eat frozen grapes?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Earlier this summer I was at the grocery store thumbing through a book on using fruits and vegetables. The chapter on grapes suggested freezing them. I thought it seemed a little weird as I had never even heard of anyone doing this, but I tried it and we loved them. I buy Thompson seedless, rinse, drain, then spread on a cookie sheet in the freezer and leave overnight. By morning they are well frozen and there is nothing like them for a snack on a hot summer day. We average about a pound of grapes a day lately, and almost never eat them fresh anymore. Just wondered if this was a common way to eat grapes that has previously escaped my attention?

We always keep a variety of fruit in our freezer. We use them in the place of ice in our vita-mixer. It is a great way to take advantage of seasonal fruit at great prices. When it is real hot we sometimes just eat them frozen. We keep grapes as well as bananas, peeled oranges, peaches, and an assortment of berries etc. etc.

I first heard about this "trick" at a weight control-loss meeting years ago. They are great..really a treat in these hot humid Fl. days. Only problem is keeping enough on hand and keeping the kids from going in and out of the freezer!!

Frozen grapes have been a treat in our family since my kids were young. And as Sandi said, they do taste especially good in hot, humid Florida. We buy only organic now which are more costly but worth the peace of mind and also still cheaper and healthier than other frozen treats. Haven't try the bananas yet, but maybe we should.

I've been hearing a commercial on the radio for frozen grapes dipped in chocolate from one of the big candy outlets. Sounds wonderful!

My daughters love frozen grapes. They're great on hot days. I had never tried them until my girls started freezing them. We always froze bananas and that's where they got the idea. I think they're good too.

Hi Everyone! Try freezing sweet cherries! My family has been doing this since I was a kid. I continued the tradition with my own children and they like them better than cookies! I am an extreme cherry lover and the fresh season just does NOT LAST LONG ENOUGH. Freeze the same as grapes above, which by the way I have never tried. I'm sure going to though-- sounds wonderful!

We freeze peaches whole and unpeeled.. Just run a little warm water over them and the peel comes right off. Slice and enjoy. A friend and I had a catering business foe a while and we used to freeze sweet cherries, grapes, melon balls, peaches and whole strawberries and make a frozen fruit salad. It was very popular. Fortunately there was never much left, because it isn' good when everything thaws completely.

Frozen grapes are WONDERFUL! To freeze bananas, slice them up as you would to put on your cereal. Place on wax paper-covered cookie sheet and place in freezer! Very easy and great eating.
