Can't play VCD in Sony DVP S360 Player and in Win NT system

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I have a wedding VCD in CD-R media. I tried playing it by opening the AvSeq01.dat file in the mpegav folder in Windows Media Player version 6.4.07.1112 on a Windows NT. Getting the following error "No combination of filters could be found to render the stream. (Error=80040218)". Also, burnt a CD-RW media by copying the content of the above mentioned VCD and tried to play in my Sony DVD Player Model#DVP S360.As soon as play button is pressed it keeps blinking C 13:00 on the bottom right hand corner of the TV screen. Any suggestions/ideas to fix this problem? Thx in advance.

I have a couple of suggestions. Try upgrading Windows Media Player. You could also install the Elecard MPEG player (www.elecard.com). Installing Elecard will help if your system is missing MPEG-1 drivers. You could also try to make sure that your system has a definition for MPEG-1. I'm not a big Windows user as I work with UNIX mostly, but Windows has definitions for file types. Make sure that MPEG-1 is defined. With regards to the Sony DVD player, try another type of CD-RW media. I can tell you that Sony CD-RW media will work on the Sony DVD players I've tested it with. CD-RW media differs a bit depending on who made it. Maybe your Sony just doesn't like the brand you are using.

Thanks for the response. But, still I am getting the same problem when I try to play a SONY CD-RW media in my DVD Player Model # DVP S360. It still keeps blinking C 13:00 on the bottom right hand corner of the TV Screen. I did burn the CD using the make an exact copy option in my HP MY CD. The CD writer i used is hp 9100 series. Is there anything I am doing wrong? or any other cd creator s/w should i use to overcome this issue? Thx

Ganesh

C 13:00 means that the player considers the disc to be dirty and that either the disc or the player's optics need cleaning.

I am having the same issue C 13 00 error. My Sony DVD player wont play CD-R discs. Some it does !! It has a mind of its own. Same company same CD-R same copying software..plays on and ignores the other as NO DISK. Anyway i burnt the same into a CR-RW and now get this C 13 00 error. My friend got ssome cheapo player and its works fine with just about anything. Maybe Sony should stick to Walkmans ! I am very disappointed.

Anything I get, I re-burn into TDK CD-R discs and the Sony sees it and also plays it. Surprises never seize, do they? I had expected some engineer from Sony or its associates to reply here..but to no avail. regards

Thousands of people including myself have been ripped off by SONY and have experienced the now infamous "C 13:00" error. SONY used parts that they knew would burn out after their 1yr warranty expired. They did this so that you would have to buy more of their products.

There is a class-action lawsuit against SONY on this very matter. Nearly 300,000 people have joined. If you have been taken, I strongly urge you to visit www.bigclassaction.com and register. Don't let them get away with it. It's your money!

I have gotten passed the error...but there is one problem i doesnt work on all DVD's. I tested with one DVD and it worked but the next didn't. It is really a wierd thing how it works I pressed the DVE button and the Virtual Suround Sound button I pressed those a couple of times before I pressed play and it worked. Try doing that on your DVD player if you find any combo's of DVE or Surround Sound options E-mail me. I hope it works for you.
