Better-than-average Weed in the Garden

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Nature Photography Image Critique : One Thread

This little flower came up in my back garden. I didn't plant it and have no idea what it is, so I guess it's a weed! The flower is about 3/4" across; this picture is cropped slightly from the full frame.

Canon T90, FD 50mm macro reversed on bellows, about 2X magnification. Lit by one 300TL flash. Kodak Elite Chrome 100.

Not a clue what kind of flower you've got there, but it looks pretty enough to keep. Looks like you lost some DOF on the left side, but it doesn't hurt the photo any; it actually makes a nice counterbalance to the detail on the right side.

What effect did reversing the macro lens have, if any? Or was that so it would attach to the bellows?

A weed is merely something you don't want. I have lots of "weeds" if I like them or the birds like them. Is this a flat, low plant?
