Peach cobbler and ice cream is a good chicken dinner desert.

Lots of color on your plate--greens, fresh or cooked, reds, yellows, like peppers or tomatoes, etc. Fruit too!

A variety of textures as well, such as smushy spaghetti, crisp salad, crusty French bread. And we follow that with fresh, homemade brownies still warm from the oven. The brownies might have nuts, but more often they don't.

After a heavy rich meal like stews or roasted fare and in hot weather we like sherbert (sorbet). Its light on the tongue and tummy and refreshes after a heavy meal. Goes with anything!!! Aaaaand its FAT FREE!!!!!!! Woo hoo!

My weekly meal planning is based upon what is coming up in the garden and what is on sale in the local grocery stores (I shop four to get best deals as I do my errands). I use websites like recipelink.com to find recipes to match what is on sale (usually in season too). Here are some website that will help you:

For what it's worth, my niece is a registered dietician (what a word!), and she would frown on the potatoes and corn without a green vegetable, as potatoes and corn both have a lot of starch in them. Try brocolli, if your kids will eat it - mine love it, especially if you put just a dab of cheese sauce in or on it.
