The Music? New Verve? New Music? New Favourite Band? Or another Delta?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : I Really Love Music : One Thread

Well?

What do you think?

Heard one track, the instrumental. I know the guy who manages them, and he's most impressed by their attitude, I think. The track was OK, impressively bonkers and so on, but a bit lacking in tune... Mind you, so were The Verve when they were any good.

I don't want a new Verve or Stone Roses though. I've got every record by both those bands already.

very young, very, very good live, loads of energy - they feel really fresh. Songs? Can't tell yet.But incredible spirit. There's definitely something there. They have a chance. Unlike Starsailor - tedious.

by the way, heard some new Delta stuff the other day - it's fantastic. Are they the new Shack? or the new Elbow?

-- gretnagreen (gbguy75@hotmail.com), August 15, 2001.

You heard new Delta stuff? I was so tempted to pick up the album the last time that I was in London. Especially after I saw the tour dates of them with the tyde/of arrowe hill/oranger.....

Fuck me.

Arrgghh...

*obsessing*

The Music?

IT's not a matter of needing a new Stone Roses or the Verve but needing a group with the same attitude............

-- doomie (doompatrol@hotmail.com), August 16, 2001.

well doomie

they've (The Music) definitely got the same attitude and the potential to mean something, let's see what they've got to offer with an album! Got the new Spiritualised yet? It's fantastic.

-- gretnagreen (gbguy75@hotmail.com), August 16, 2001.

arrgghh!!! you bastard!!!!!

I *want* the new spiritualized. They have not even released the single over in Canadaland yet. The Music...yes, I am interested but I only heard the instrumental track from an NME sampler and it was alright/more like a santana jam so I have to reserve judgment until I hear something a little more proper.

The Music remind me of Northern Uproar (hahaha..well, I think I'm the only one who enjoyed the last Northern Uproar album).

Have you heard EAst Village? I'm hunting that one down at the moment and I think it's a spurious journey that I am embarking on.

I said that to prove my point to the jobless Mark S: Writing is just effective lying. Thus said, I proved my point, he believed me: did he not?

Well, I certainly believed you, you big fibber.

Norman, you better get off of this board. DG will find you out and tell you to stop. ie. Natalie. I think you are a good guy: would not want all of your I Love Music/I Love Everything playmates hating you.

-- doomie (doompatrol23@hotmail.com), August 16, 2001.

I didn't tell anyone to stop posting. I just explained to her who you are and what you'd been up to before she started posting on the other boards.

-- DG (rgreenfield@btinternet.com), August 16, 2001.

Your version: very manicheaun of you. Did you refer her to the Doompatrol classic or dud thread?

No.

Didnt think so.

Fuck, what a way to start the morning with a louse like you!

-- doomie (doompatrol23@hotmail.com), August 17, 2001.

Doomie,

The Music are nothing like the Uproar!!! The Music are grooved out space cadets I think, with a bit of power. N.U. were just, well, a runt Oasis without any songs....

However, they only have a couple of instrumentals...you can download other tracks off of their website.

-- gretnagreen (gbguy75@hotmail.com), August 17, 2001.

it's www.themusic.uk.com

-- gretnagreen (gbguy75@hotmail.com), August 17, 2001.

I'm going to check out the site. I can't hear anything at the moment as I am at work. I did see a copy of their single on a Hut sampler...take the long road and walk it?

Suppose it is........................

Must admit I am excited to hear the vocals. The jam on the NME sampler was alight but not as exciting as I had thought it was going to be. But I'm not going to diss off a band without hearing a proper song first.

And hey!!!

Am I the only one who will defend Northern Uproar.....a band whose second album that I enjoyed immensely? I like the footnotes of rock history! NU were just a teen punk band who wanted to the Oasis/Beach Boys. Sounds alright to me.

-- doomie (doompatrol23@hotmail.com), August 17, 2001.

I discovered in this months issue of Q that the lead bloke from Northern Uproar quit music to become a hairdresser! That's one in the eye for all the people who thought they were no-sensitivity yobs. I'd love to defend them but I can't remember a single note, sorry.

-- Number None (whoisnumbernone@hotmail.com), August 19, 2001.

Yeah yeah yeah!!! Hahahaha....hairdresser yeah? Arrrgghh.....I do enjoy some footnotes of rock and roll history.

What do you think of Track and Field? Essential? Or just essential for picking and choosing from Kindercore's catalogue?

I only have the Tyde and Great Lakes and both I do find enjoyable. The tyde for the bastardization of felt/bob dylan stylings and great lakes just cause they sound like they could be opening for games for may/pink floyd in 1968...............................................

-- doomie (doompatrol@hotmail.com), August 20, 2001.

Track And Field? Don't really know it! I think I went to the club once in London but I was a bit pissed. It seemed OK though - didnt recognise anything playing but the state I was in I wouldnt have. Do they put out records too?

-- Number None (whoisnumbernone@hotmail.com), August 20, 2001.

Track and Field can be found at: http://www.trackandfield.org.uk

They are small and perfectly formed for what they do and the club night is tres cool. Geri Halliwell even stepped in for 5 minutes but left before a member of Comet Gain attempted to make her shimmy to Stereolab.

-- Mary (muzzystar@hotmail.com), August 21, 2001.

True true about Track and Field....

Last night I got some poptones releases: Gary Usher - Add some music to your day and The Byrds: Pre-flyte. Both of which are fantastic...more later..........

Picked up Kendra Smith's five way of disappearing this lunch in the bargain bin. Does anyone here dig the paisley underground?

-- doomie (doompatrol@hotmail.com), August 21, 2001.

Dearest Who is NumberNone:

May I cordially invite you to join Sonny Tremaine's pop group? Like minded people with the same love of rock and roll and japanese surrealism.
