We can buy borax as 20 Mule Team. We can buy sodium bicarbonate as baking soda. We can make sodium carbonate from bicarbonate... so, is there any inexpensive package of a couple of pounds of boric acid?

I know I can buy a Swan boric acid powder at a drugstore, but I can only find a 4 oz. bottle, and the price is nearly the same as Photographers Formulary.

Ryuji, this place (http://www.colba.net/~fotochem/index.htm) generally has good prices and some remarkable sales. For instance, I bought 1 pound of catechol for $12.

They sell boric acid at $5/1 lb and $20/10 lb.
