play cd/rw VCD on Sony 535

I have a Sony535 multi region DVD player I got a copy of a VCD from a friend but can not in any way play the damn thing is there any technical wizards who could solve this problem would be very greatful also it refuses to play cd/rw discs which the VCD was on in the first place. thanx M.Wright

Hi Mark, Sony's are notorious for not supporting CD-R, although most of them do offer some unofficial CD-RW support. My brother and a friend both have Sony DVD players and this has worked for them - Sony brand CD-RW discs have worked fine. Also, Prime Peripherals brand CD-R discs have worked too. You can find Prime Peripherals brand at either Office Max or Office Depot if you live in the US. If these don't work you're probably out of luck. If you bought your multi-region player outside of the USA, you may be out of luck too. It's been my experience from what I've read that Asian DVD players by major manufacturers sometimes don't even support CD-RW, but I can't give you exact models. Good luck.

I too have a similar problem with my sony 735, it likes the vcds i create using imation cr-rw 650mb, but not the 800mb imation cd-r. I thought that it maybe worth trying to copy to another cd-r 650mb see if that cures my problem or i'll just stick to cd-rw
