I'd pass a law that would make all corporations/businesses plant trees. How many trees? Depends on the size of the business? Where? Wherever needed. The trees would be planted on a contiuous basis til a committee of people with a lot of horse sense figures there were enough, then there would be replacements planted as needed.

That won't bring about world peace, but it'd make the world a whole lot nicer.

I second Cindy: if corporations don't have a problem polluting our air, water and properties, then they should be forced to put somethings back.

If I were president, I would want to have studies done on the long term effects of pesticides on humans. Down here in the valley, many migrant farm workers, and people with residences near large crop fields which receive sprayed pesticides, are getting sick. I mean REAL sick; cancers and other long term illnesss, headaches, and what all. It seems too much of a coincidence that the same people living and working in these fields are getting sick at the same time. Agribusiness down here is trying to keep the news low key, but time will only tell.

First, let me say I did not vote for Clinton, but the only good idea the man had IMHO is what I would also do...put in place a government- sponsored health plan so that folks such as me with no health insurance would not lose my farm if I had a medical emergency and had to stay in the hospital. Folks would pay $100/month maximum for their families and be able to get the care they need....last week I had an MRI..I HAD to..it cost me $899.00....bone surgery for my condition would cost me over $35,000.....won't have the surgery because I cannot afford it...too bad for me....I am tired of insurance companies and their exorbitant rates for folks who do not work for big companies..my oldest son is a cook in a restaurant..he works 12 hours, 6 days a week for $6/hour with no health benefits..should he or I get catastrophically ill, the tax payers will foot the bill eventually..I'd rather pay SOMEONE, even the government, a premium of $100/month towards the day when I need hospitalization then to lose everything I have worked for for 31 years..folks who choose never to work have state-funded medicaid=free health care, including prescriptions! Because we worked hard all our lives and own property free and clear, healthcare costs will take it all!!!! As much as I hate government interference, the way our society is structured, the Feds are the only means to offer broad-based healthcare to citizens who otherwise could not afford it....

I would be very, very, very, busy for that one day!

First I would pass an executive order outlawing all previous EO's! Then I would pass an EO rescinding all corporations priveleges and outlawing lobbying. Then I would knock the Constitution back to the original ten plus the no slavery and women's voting amendments, thereby fufilling the liberty and justice for all aspect. And insist on proper state ratification of all the amendments.....and also pass an EO taking the US out of the UN for a monstrously long list of Constitutional reasons.

The only problem with *1* day is there is no time for proper legislative functions and the President isn't supposed to be a legislator anyway. This is how we got the Eo's in the first place. But if given the opportunity, I'd turn it all on it's head and get the Constitution back in it's rightful position.

I would put prayer back into schools and stop spending (Some) money over seas and put it here with out poor and needed where it could do them some good. I would pass a law that everyone over 18 should have to carry a gun at all times. (if we all have guns and we all know it crime rate will go down) and I would pour more money into schools

I would outlaw the practice of attaching amendments onto bills. This would force each bill to be passed on its own merits, which would save the taxpayers BILLIONS each year in pork from both parties. It would mean some representative could not attach some stupid bill onto the budget bill, for example, just so it gets passed. If the president vetoes a bill because of an attachment, he is the one who catches the heat, not the legislator proposing the bill. Each bill needs to stand on its own. If it can't it should not pass. I know the line item veto helps, but not really enough.

If i were president for one day I would still be saddled with congress which would stop whatever I did anyway. So, except for terminating every EO in existence, and dancing in the Oval Office, I would do nothing. Which by the way is what most presidents get to do if congress isn't cooperating. Now if I could be the three branches of government fro one day. then I could get some things done. Then you would all run in fear! Ha Ha ha!!! For I would take us back to an original constitutional government and there would go everyone's pet money project. Social Security? Gone! Public schooling? Gone!World trade? Only if every thing is even steven! Also no trade with baby killers!

If I could be president for one day I would ask that all elected offices go to one 6 year term to allow more effective use of the term, with elections staggered two years apart for President and the two houses of Congress. With no re-election concerns, elected officials could concentrate on their duties and the staggered elections would afford smoother transitions between party platform ideologies. I don't think we will ever see our government return to "original" status because of the changes in make up and population increases of the U.S. now.

Meant to add this. Along with the 6 year term, the first two could be a probationary period as with any job. That would keep em on their toes and make it more likely they would do a good job and make their place in history.

Make Congress and the Senete do Their jobs. No month long vacations, Make them show up for votes. Just like a real job you have to be at your job. No free stamps, give them a budget to live within. Make them drive to work, not be have someone drive them, Make them pay for what they get and use.No special dinners with corporations, Everone running for office gets the same amount of money to spend.

I would STOP ABORTION!! How is it that the mother actually is so cold hearted to kill her own child. Shouldn't the womb be the safest place for the baby? I could never respect a woman who murders someone, let alone her own inncocent child who was denied the gift of life by his/her own mother.
