Russia: 1000 Factories in Siberia Cut Off for Not Paying Electric Bills

Krasnoyarsk, 10 August: Over a thousand factories and organizations in Krasnoyarsk Territory have had electricity supplies cut off due to bad debts. The Krasnoyarskenergo utility's press spokesman said on 10 August that their combined debt exceeded R1.5 bn.

He added that power supplies to another 500 enterprises were being limited.

The major debtors include the Sivinit company (R309 m), the pulp- and-paper plant (R186 m), and the Yenisey chemical works (R109 m).

Organizations which receive their finance from the federal budget owe a total of R60 m.

The spokesman said that industry and businesses in Krasnoyarsk Territory owe R2.7 bn. However, power supplies to many companies with debts were continuing
