extracting portions of a DVD

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

HI,

Does anyone know of a good software to extract portions of a DVD? I am looking something like the start-finish time on TMPGEnc, but this time from a DVD.

I would like to extract small parts of movies for REALLY personal use. I don't see reason to downgrade a DVD to VCD.

Regards

There are programs for decrypting DVDs lurking around on the net that you can use to fish out VOBs, etc. One of them is DVDDecryptor2.4, which can be seen in www.flexion.org or from dvdsoft.hotmail.ru/main.html. This I use, but there are others like SmartRipper, cladDVD, etc. all of which laugh away CSS which Hollywood and others has all but staunchly labored so hard for. Best if used, by the way, with a region-free DVD-ROM drive. Whether yours is or isn't can be known from www.inmatrix.com.

If you own a dvd and don't have a dvd player, you need to convert the dvd to mpg or avi or something you can watch.
