Work GLoves that FIT and last

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have small hands, even small men's gloves don't fit me. Which you can't find anyway most of the time.

The women's so-called "gloves" I have bought are invariably some combination of cheap, flimsy, poorly made, use low quality leather that quickly cracks and stiffens, poorly fitted. Often the seams rub my hands raw and give me blisters.

So when I found a company that makes high quality gloves for women I was more than eager to try them out, and the gloves fit, last, don't stiffen if you get them wet, and (most important of all) actually protect my hands.

They're not cheap, but like any good tool, quality is well worth paying for. I will take a pair of $23 to $29 gloves that fit and last for years over a dozen pairs of $5 gloves that leave me with blisters ANY DAY. Yes, I'm plugging them. If you have had trouble finding WORK gloves that you can actually WORK in and that fit, you will not believe the difference a well-fitted quality glove will make.

Anyway, here they are:

WomansWork

They also sell women's work boots, and high quality mens gloves, as well as sundry tools and other items. I highly recommend them.

I can relate to your difficulties finding sizes that fit properly so I checked out the site because you mentioned men's gloves as well. I was disappointed to find they stop one or two sizes short of what I wear. I guess I'll have to stick with the $2.99 specials from Tractor Supply Co. (TSC Stores). They're good quality for the money and they come in sizes that fit me. Occasionally, they have XXL and XXXL in the store. If they don't, my local store is more than happy to order up whatever the minimum is (usually six or twelve pair) in either or both larger sizes just to get me one pair. While we're praising suppliers, I'll tout them as wonderful people with whom to do business as well.

Thanks for the site Sojourner! My feed store does carry a womens glove made from goat leather, they are nice and soft, but the fingers are just to long in them. I am definetly going to try these! I also get very tired of ordering from the mens catalogs, even for my work boots, then modifying them when they get here. Vicki

I love WomansWork gloves. They wear like iron, and fit wonderfully. Thank you so much for the link- the local Agway used to carry them but the manager won't carry the line any longer, he said they didn't sell.

Wells Lamont makes a washable womans glove that fits well too. These gloves don't wear as long but they're thin enough to handle small objects and don't get caught up under baling twine like the bigger bulky gloves. They also have an adjustable wrist. I just bought a pair at Walmart for $12.96-cheap enough so I don't mind as much if the fingers wear out more quickly.

I usually wear out my fingers so fast that I started putting duct tape on the fingers BEFORE I start using them. :) Thanks for the site

I currently have a pair of women's gloves that I think were made by Wells. I have had them for about five years and they still haven't worn out. I really love them. I lost one of them for a year and was bummed out that I couldn't find it. I finally found it in the satchel I was using to put all of the tracking gear I was using to teach my dog to track. It completely slipped my mind that I had used the glove as a scenting article and it was down at the bottom of the bag so I missed it. I was sure glad I eventually found it. LOL I agree that it is so hard to find good gloves for women that last and that fit properly. I will check out this site and order a pair so I can have a spare in case I lose one. Thanks much.

Try http://www.wondergloves.com My husband brought home a pair from his brother's company, and they are wonderful. They are 100% cotton with the palms and fingers dipped in a vinyl or rubber finish (blue) that makes it really easy to pick up things and grip. The cotton makes them a little cooler to wear than leather and they are washable. We both like them so well, we asked brother to add a dozen to his next order for his plant, although you can buy them at the web site as well.
