Historical overview of sex offenders

greenspun.com : LUSENET : History & Theory of Psychology : One Thread

I am writing a paper on sex offenders. I need to have an overview from a historical perspective. In other words, sexual molestation of children has not always been perceived as such. Historically children have been used as slaves, objects, possessions and at some period cherished. I need to be able to make references and citations.

You might have a look at Ian Hacking's "The making and molding of child abuse" (1991, Critical Inquiry, 17, 253-288) and "World-making by kind-making: Child abuse for example" (1992, in M. Douglas & D. Hull, (Eds.), _How Classification Works: Nelson Goodman Among the Social Sciences_, pp. 180-238).
