Viet Nam and Korea veterans benifits

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

All veterans of Viet Nam and those who served in Korea in 1968 and 69 need to be aware that the Vetrans Adminstration is adapting a policy of issueing a compensation (service connected) for those who came into contact with Agent Orange. This includes all ground troops and those who served near the shore and those who were in Korea in 1968 and 69 where Agent Orange was used. The addition of diabeties type 2 to the list is to be added soon. There is a list of cancers connected with Agent Orange and a list of birth defects which can be had by calling 1-800-827-1000; we covered America, now after 35 years they are covering us, you earned it-go for it.....

I have a dear frind who was exposed to agent orange several yrs ago with his work in the militray, forgot branch. he developed some weird mS like symptoms later and was wheelchair ridden for several yrs. he finally won a settlemnet about 8 yrs ago. Then he seemed to improve a few yrs ago, was able to walk without chair and was enjoying life for once, but drs dais it was in remission. i went to visit him before we moved and he has since had a relpase. he looked awful. Its so sad that the govt waited sooo long to compensate. Oh well... he says that no money in the world will change his health.

Hello Mitch. What do you mean by issuing compensation? Do you mean all veterans that were exposed are to receive money or only if one is afflicted with one of the listed ailments. I thought the V.A. was already compensating and caring for those who have come down with the approved illnesses. If it were a lump sum it seems they would be off the hook. I had an examination years ago and received a very vague letter about their findings. I hope I don't get any compensation other some decent health care if I become ill with one of the approved sicknesses. Good luck.
