Is it true that a citizen (or a corp or any institution) cannot sue the Federal Gov?

If this is true, then I should think that Trial Lawyers would be Republicans. Who they gonna sue if medicine or whatever becomes truly socialized?

Are local and state govs protected from suit?

Something of the same paradigm as the "forward-thinkers" never proposing to outlaw tobacco (even though any IDIOT born after 1920 knows it harms your health) because the same "forward-thinkers" know they would lose all that revenue.

All governments -- local, state, fed -- are protected from suits for punitive damages unless they give permission for such suits. That's why you'll occasionally see a lawmaker sponsoring a bill to allow so-and-so to sue because her husband was crushed by a Highway Department truck or something. Suits on civil rights and other subjects are allowed, which is why you see lawsuits filed over police brutality and such.
