St. John's, Newfoundland's main source of drinking water will be shut down due to contamination. Tests show the water from Petty Harbour-Long Pond has coliform bacteria levels 50 times higher than recommended levels. There have been no reports of illness in the city and officials are assuring people no E-coli bacteria has been found. A boil water advisory has been in effect since Sunday and it is now expanded to a larger section of the city's west end. The city's water will now come from another lake that shows no sign of contamination.
