Printer Problem

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I have an HP 895 and about a month ago it stopped printing full pages. It makes it hard to print off stuff from here as most are long, right in the middle of a paragraph it will just stop on that page! I have unplugged everything twice. I have talked to support and paid my $25.00. I do not think they really know. I have worked on the performance level and using a new printer cable, all to no avail. Any ideas here?

Any possibility you have the printer set up to print on A4 size paper instead of letter size? Most of my catastrophic problems result from something simple like this. I hope this helps.

Nope, just went and looked. It is the same with me usually it is little things. I may not have gotten the right technician yet. I have had things happen before with my computer and it just depends who I get.

You might try something as simple as removing the printer (click on Start, Settings, Printer, Right Click on Printer, Delete) and then reinstalling the printer driver and related programs if any.

Can't think of anything else offhand - hope this helps.

No, that did not work either. I forgot to mention the out of paper error keeps flashing. And yes it has paper......

I have a husband who fixes printers. Here he is... He suggested comparing your light pattern on the printer with the description at the following web sight: http://www.hp.com/cposupport/printers/support_doc/bpd06103.html#P22_11 56. Also find out from your user's manual how to perform the self test, there should be a key sequence on the printer that will cause it to print a test or demo page. If that prints fine then chances are that the printer is ok. At this point the suggestion to delete and re-install the printer is applicable. You will want to get the driver from hp.com or use your original release media when doing this just in case the driver file on your system is corrupted. While ink jets aren't his specialty (they are essentially a throw away printer except in the high-end colors) he has had some experience with them. More often than not the printers that come into his shop just need to be cleaned to fix them. He is also wondering if you have tried different ink cartridges since changing these can fix weird problems. The bad news is cleaning the printer, particularly the sensors could be problematic since these printers are not the easiest to open. They will require a Torx bit (probably T10) and will have some difficult to find clips to get to. Hope this helps! ~Brenda~

I was wondering, if you are still having printer problems whether or not you installed any new software?

I've had do problems with printers; both of them were software problems.

The Lexmark doesn't like IE links on the desktop, remove it and it will work fine.

The Epson doesn't like the PCillin virus protection software and as long as it isn't set to automatically load at start up and is closed when you use the printer there should be no problem with it.

Just a thought, do u have your paper on landscape or portrait? Landscape settings might make your page look like this.
