New Carillon Bells Ring at The Ferry Building

San Francisco, Calif. – Thursday, January 14, 1999 –Musical chimes in the Ferry Building’s clock tower will toll once again for San Franciscans, downtown workers and visitors alike on the City’s waterfront. The Port of San Francisco has installed a new carillon system in the historical Ferry Building, replacing the previous carillon system that served twenty-three years until 1997 when its irreplaceable tape player finally expired.
