Canon EF 200mm 1.8L ... Help!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

Hi, Some question about Tripod collar of Conon EF 200mm F1.8L Lens. AFAK, This tripod collar has 4-click stops for temporary stop lens revolving, but the click stop position of my lens look weird... The click stop make my camera set on 30 degree over turn toward counter clock direction.... Is it Normal position? IMO, the click stop should be make the camera set in exact horizontal and vertical position. If you have experience with this lens, Please let me know asap... If my lens is not normal, I should return it.... BTW, is this lens worth to spend lots of money(Even used one market price over $2,500)?

Something is wrong. I have the 500/4.5 and 300/2.8, both with click stops at 90deg interval corresponding with vertical and horizontal position. The tripod collar for the 200/1.8 is at the front, possibly the front assembly could have had been removed (for unknown reasons),and not installed properly. You might want to check with the shop you buy from for its service history.
