How to use the Sekonic L-248 light meter

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Camera Equipment : One Thread

I just recieved a Sekonic Multi-Lumi L-248 light meter for my birthday but am not sure what a few things on it mean (no manual). For instance, there is a small red button on the back of the meter which I am unsure of how to use. Also, at the bottom front there are 2 sets of numbers. One ranges from 2-10, and when you hit a switch the second set of numbers ranges from 10-18. Anyone know what these mean? I thought perhaps one set is for 120 film, and the other for 220. Anyway, any help on this would be greatly appreciated!!

Try www.sekonic.com for either a manual or advice from the tech dept. They're usually very helpful.

You probly have already found out this. The red button I think is for checking the battery condition. The number ranges are exposure values depending on the light level (the 10-18 range would be normal outdoor values, 2-10 indoor and low light). The film size is not relevant, but the film speed needs to be set on the calculator dial to convert the EV reading to shutter speed and aperature.
