I'm trying to use a 540 EZ Speedlite without an owner's manual. I see an icon when I press both "sync" buttons -- is that the second-curtain sync icon? When I press them again, the icon disappears -- I assume no icon means it's set to the default first-curtain sync. Right?

Congratulations! You got all the answers correct.

Not really to hard to figure these things out since they have the LCD on the back, but unless you know what Canon's second curtain sync icon looks like, this is the one you might not get. But you got it!
