hand strap for eos 300+BP-200 (batery pack)

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Canon EOS FAQ forum : One Thread

I'm searching for a hand strap to use it along with my eos 300+BP-200 (batery pack). I know there is Canons hand strap E1. But there are two thing that bothers me about it. First - it is expensive. Second - you can't use it along with neck strap.

Anyone knows for some good alternative?

I'm searching for similar hand strap that came along with old BP-8 for eos 500 (good, comfortable, cheap and you can use it along with neck strap). Is it maybe possible to get that hand strap or something similar?

The hand straps that shipped with the various EOS grips and battery packs are made of leather-look vinyl. After a couple years, mine literally melted from contact with the back of my hand, leaving little black particles all over my camera before I noticed. I replaced them all with the E-1 hand strap. Although expensive, it is real leather and very durable. Both of mine are 10 years old and in excellent condition (I've transferred them as I upgraded cameras).

The nylon strap used to attach the leather hand pad is what allows use of a neck strap (it has a little snap button on the end). You could use your old nylon attachment strap on the E-1 if you want to retain neck strap ability. If you can sew, it's easy to make your own leather hand strap or attach the neck strap connector to a nylon attachment strap.
