poisoned dog help

Help! I have a dog that cannot stand. He wags his tail and seems fine but cannot stand. He tries but doesn't seem to control his legs. My gp had gotten out and did the similiar thing. He could walk, he just staggered. They went off together for a couple of hours and I noticed this when I put him back up. We have fixed his escape route but have not put the other dog in yet. I took him some water but he won't drink. He did drink his urine which was very dark and thick. I am assuming they got into some poison somewhere. Max, our gp, recovered quickly but Walker is half his size and has been like this since last night. Do I need to put a tube in and give him water or try it with a syringe or just leave him alone? Thanks.

Give him pepto bismo to stop the absorption of any more poison and get him to a vet FAST!

THIS COULD BE TICK PARALYSIS! You have to dip him and pick all the ticks you can find off of him. This happened to my BC mix recently. IF he has been poisoned, the dip could make him worse. I second the notion of getting him to a vet pronto!

We lost a dog to similiar problems, what was decided in the end was that she had eaten a scorpion. She threw up scorpion pieces right before she died. Good luck and we will keep your dog and family in our prayers!

Maybe your guys got onto a neighbors property and they took the advice of this forum, like poison such as ethylene glycol. Lucky he didn't get cremated by a WD40 flame thrower, or a victim of shoot, shovel and shut up, then you would never know what happened. Hope he pulls through. Dianne

When I was growing up in AK, no Vet handy, our dogs would occasionally get in some dead salmon which would poison them. My mother fed them lard or Crisco, which they ate right down. They seemed to know that it would help them. After they got over it, you couldn't get them to eat it.

We live on a farm so once in a while a dog will find the Bar Bait we put out to kill mice. As soon as we notice it we get a meat baster and make them drink about 3-4T. Peroxide. That makes them throw up. We have never lost a dog yet thank goodness. I wish you luck. This is very safe. Will not harm the dog.
