16mm motion picture frame to still photo...can it be done?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I've got a (moving) Black and white film that I need print a still from. Does anyone know where I could send it to make this dream come true? I need the stills to submit to a festival. Thank you very much. Ken.

Try your local professional photo lab. If they can copy 35mm slides, they probably can do a 16mm frame by jury-rigging a little. There used to be a simple gadget that mounted on 35mm still cameras via T mounts that copied 16mm frames. I had one many years ago, but no longer. Seems like it came from Birns & Sawyer in Hollywood. Someplace that deals in 16mm may have one.

Any pro lab, or B&W printer should be able to do this for you. They shold be able to hold 16mm flat in a 35mm carrier. Where are you located?
