Mildew on Log House

Can anyone tell me the best thing to use to get the mildew off of the logs on our log house. Also what to spray with like a sealer to discourage or prevent borer bees from drilling into the logs.

Does your home already have a sealer on it. If not a solution of bleach and water will remove it and then seal with a good log preservative. If it is already sealed, test a small spot and wash with a diluted bleach solution. As for the carpenter bees. We encountered them here in Kentucky and have found no solution for them. The only thing we have done is swat and kill. Each year the population has gotten less. Good luck, jean

Spray with straight bleach, let it soak a while, wash off with water. If that doesn't work, scrub with TSP(trisodium phosphate) commonly sold in grocery or hardware stores. Bora-care(boron) is one thing you could use for the bees.
