Video card requirements for dv editing

what is needed for DV editing in terms of video card - I have a old pci ati rage 2mb all the rest of my equipment is good pIII 933 ata/100 drives ieee 1394 firewire card and MGI videowave III editing software but when I capture dv even to AVI I get many frames lost and my audio is no good. I am using win2k professional. Is my video card the problem (I think so) and whats a good upgrade?
