German porcelain marked Mayer Fassold

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Art Deco Society of Washington : One Thread

I have a very deco looking figure with Mayer Fassold impressed in the base, but I've never been able to find any info on the name. The piece came from a fine DC estate in the 50's or 60's and has an odd makers mark under the name. would appreciate any info.

Hi Michael, i also have a figurine but saw a figurine with the same marking and it was by Fasold and Stauch but struggling also to find any info regarding the figurine, an old lady who i cared for gave it to me she was 87yrs and said she got it when she got engaged but that's all I know. I am in touch with a lady from America (i think) who takes an interest in decorative arts, she is helping me at the moment, and hopefully we'll be able to determine it's history/value if any. I'll let you know of any findings Debbie

I also have a semi-nude porcelain figurine of a woman draped from below her breasts to the top of her legs. She is holding her breast in her hands. The maker's mark is two slanted vertical marks with a half circle above each and a vertical line with (looks like) a star above the line. It is marked E.M. Fassold numbered 1025. It was given to my mother-in-law by her brother when he returned from WWII. That is all I know. Carole Barton
