Future of Polaroid instant films?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : polaroid transfers : One Thread

Should there be any concern with the future availability of instant films with yesterdays (2001 July 12) news of the possible bankruptcy of Polaroid?

Are there any interested third parties willing to buy out and continue the manufacture / promotion of instant films?

It appears that Polaroid will be granted an extension on their out- standing debt and my un-named sources in Cambridge say they are OK for the next two years or so. Then, who knows... meanwhile, let's all shoot lots of Polaroid film. Joan Emm, the Excess-70 Smoosh Queen

For me, I find it exciting not knowing when this film will just be something of the past. It offers a kind of pressure situation for me in my work - a tenseness that it is all going to be over at any given moment. I look forward to the day that the films I use and love every day of my life are non-existant. With this in mind, I use Polaroid sx70 time zero film in a sacred manner - making every image as if it were my last. What a great way for an artist to live.
