I've tried on using Philips SVCD Designer in Windows 2000. Unfortunately it exits everytime I try to use "sequence item editor" or "segment item editor". This only happens in Windows 2000. In NT it's ok. Do anyone knows of some sort of workaround ?

Have the same Problem, no solution yet. As I tested it the first time, it even did exit on opening the assets pool (cause there werde no \template dir on HDD). I would be interested in a workaround, too. Please send a copy by private mail, thanx!

I'm going back to an NT 4.0 partition just to run this software.

My only problem is reading and writing to and from the 80 gig FAT32 formatted drive that has a WIN98SE partition as it's active partition.

When I tried it with NT 4 on a 4 gig drive I wasn't able to "see" my 80 gig drive partitions (all FAT32) So I had no place to write the SVCD images to, or do my video editing which is strictly WIN98 software

I don't think Philips is ever planning to fix the problem. They don't really care anymore. There is no work-around.

SVCD is an old format(mid nineties). Really, does anyone in the US or Europe use it for anything but home movies and piracy?

Yeah , this piece of software absolutelly donīt work using Win32 API from Windows 2K. You need to use Windows NT. Donīt even try,itīs a lost of time... Besides, one good soul givinīa link to download ? I lost my copy in a computer crash! Plz. that link to Philips donīt work anymore.Maybe the company is under pressure from hollywood big bosses and discontinued their brighting SVCD authoring software. Better if U can give me the LICENSE NUMBER too . Peace on Earth and letīs rip movies before West/East decide put a final push bottom in evreythig :(

Here's the answer: Use VMWare (I suggest 3.0 but you can get hacks for 2.0.3) and install NT on VMWare. That way you don't need dual boot or a separate partition. VMWare runs IN Win2K. Then you can use SVCD designer in W2K and NT. Run the computational intensive stuff in W2K and the sequence / segment item editors in NT (cuz they crask on W2K).

Hi,

just use Advanced Zip Password Cracker to uncover the password for the zip-files. I can't remember the exact password by head, but all the passwords used in those files comprise of 5 numbers (no letters!)

It have just made a small patch for the SVCD Designer so that it is capable of displaying the dialoges in Windows 2000/XP. Unfortunately the patch causes other dialogs to crash, but the designer doesn't care about it's name so you can just have to copies stored in the same folder; a patched and an unpatched version. If anyone is interested, E-mail me and I will upload it to a homepage somewhere.
