I've been in tropical areas a short while ago and was confronted with the same problem. The way I solved it was to keep my camera and flash in a sealable plastic bag with the little balls you always find when you purchase brand new electronics. These little balls (can't remember the name right now) can be found in any camping or outdoor sports store. They are in a small bag and have to be put in you platic sealable bag. With this type of arrangment, I doubt that any humidity should come in contact with your rigs. Trust me... I was in highly humid temperatures and my cameras, films, filters, and flashes were nice, dry and cozy with thier respective bages. All this at a very inexpensive price. When I do find the real name for the balls I will let you know.

The little balls are called SILICA-GEL, you should link to this web page...

I recently found an auction on ebay for 3" x 4.5" silica gel packs at a reasonable price. He sells them for $1/pack in dutch auctions, and he also has separate auctions for lots of 25 packs starting at $9 (plus a few bucks shipping). He's very pleasant to deal with, and very prompt. Just do a seller-search for Quueball, and it will show his auctions.
