IRKUTSK, RUSSIA - A passenger plane carrying 143 people has crashed in Siberia.

Russia's Interfax agency says the plane, carrying 133 passengers and 10 crew, was a Tupolev 154 belonging to the Vladivostok Avia airline.

According to the Emergencies Ministry, the plane disappeared from radar screens at 9:10 p.m. Moscow time Tuesday, on a flight from the Urals city of Yekaterinburg to Vladivostok in the Russian far east.

Ground and aerial search parties are on their way to the area. It's not known if there are any casualties, but news agency ITAR-Tass says the plane is on fire.

Interfax news agency quoted Irkursk regional officials as saying crash site had been found and all the people on board were believed killed.
