Never heard of this chain but I bet its going to add quite a few people to the unemployment line in Houston. Who would want to go to a store called Weiner's anyway. Yeah lets go shop at the hot dog store! Maybe they played the oscar meyer theme song on the public address over and over and drove the customers nuts?

Weiner's Stores Incorporated Houston, TX Weiner's Stores Inc., a troubled chain of retail clothing stores based in Houston, announced Tuesday that it will close all of its stores and eliminate 2,700 jobs by September. Last October, the chain filed for bankruptcy protection and closed 44 of its 141 stores, citing cash flow problems and operating losses. Those closures affected 1,100 employees at underperforming stores in Texas, Louisiana and Arkansas. The remaining stores were to be revamped to offer more toys, electronics, small appliances, furniture and housewares. But slight improvements in sales late last year and early this year were not enough to save the company. Weiner's has been in financial trouble since the 75-year-old chain first sought bankruptcy protection in 1995. Approximate affected work force: over 1000
