Almost Oregon Bound

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I am so excited! We had our home up for sale since Dec. and finally it's sold. Closing date is July 10. We will be heading off to Oregon to find a new homestead. But due to prior commintments we won't be leaving until October. It seems so far away. I am anxious to move to Oregon. But one step at a time. I have so many plans. I will start up my own business once we finally make it there. I am looking forward to planting a garden and trees. I want to learn how to make soap and other bath products. My husband and I want to buy raw land with plenty of trees so we can build our own house. Soon enough. Trish

Glad you sold your place, now the planning really starts. Didn't say what area you are looking at in Ore.? Lot's of places come with trees, eastern Ore. more like desert. I live in Central Wa. and we have irrigation water or our area would look like a desert. Best wishes.

I live in Eastern Washington and am from Eastern Oregon. While central Oregon and Washington are very desert like, The eastern edge is typically heavily forested. The movie "Paint your wagon" was filmed in Eastern Oregon - but that was lush forest.

We live in southern Oregon, lots of trees, very mild winters, plenty of water to irrigate. We just sold our farm but we have not been able to find another place to live, so now we really have to search.
