Hi!Did y'all like the pictures?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
They're great! Y'all are a really good-looking couple.I ended up doing the elliptical for thirty minutes last night.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Did you like the recap? He's soooo much tanner than me. I'm all bummed because I didn't realize I was still that pale after 2 days in the sun!
Did pam's entry yesterday have a point?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Well, your face was fair, but your arms had color, and really, that's the best kind if tan, because you won't end up with a leather head.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I'm just at 15 til fish taco now. Hee.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
And you're pretty alabaster fair, not scary fish belly fair.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Scary leather head. Hee.Fish Taco o'clock.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I think I must have missed the fish taco part of the weekend.Seriously, though, fish tacos are good eating.
(Get your minds out of the gutter)
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
You left out my love/hate witticism!
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Ah! I did. I'll have to add that. And I want to add drunken ho down.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Drunken ho down. Why am I so tired and lazy and braindead?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I just don't know. Why is my email all cracked out?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Have y'all heard of Hollis Gillespie? She writes a columnin Atlanta, and I've adored her for years. Read through the archives, if you're bored:http://atlanta.creativeloafing.com/moodswing.html

I do not know.Falafel is in Connecticut today. I've been thinking a lot about our Vegas weekend. He and I do great when we're out with his friends, or even my friends, here. And we're fine when we're alone together here- we have a great time with each other. But y'all, last weekend, even when we were alone in Vegas, most of our conversation was "Are you having fun? Anything I can do for you?" ad infinitum.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Well, maybe you can chalk it up to the combination of a gimpy foot, the sensory overload that Vegas is, and the Sports Book. Maybe he didn't want to feel like he was monopolizing your time, since you can see him all the time, and you rarely get to see us.Have y'all thought about doing something with just you two before you head to LA?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
True, true. And his not being able to drink. But seriously, the "Anything I can do for you?" was, by the end of Sunday, going to drive me insane. Every five minutes and all. We'll see. I think we are going to try to something- maybe a weekend in Maine.Creative Loafing. The paper my mother was reading when she met my father.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Maybe he wanted to make sure you were having a great time, even though he couldn't have as great a time, what with the no drinking and all.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Possibly. I just didn't feel like there was any communication between us. Oh well. Now I'm trying to decide what for lunch. I want a burger and beer. Again.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
It was a pretty frenetic weekend, though, and a jetlagged one, to boot.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Very true. I think I'm just crabby now that I'm not on vacation.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I would do anything if the drink lady would come buy and offer me liquor in a plastic flamingo.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Hee!
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Hee. Where IS the drink lady?I was bad. But the burger was gooooood. And I had no breakfast, so if I have a decent dinner, it'll even out.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Also, I am officially in love with Pineapple. And I want to be an E- whiskey-palian.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Where did you all goooooooooo?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I like her, but sometimes she weirds me out. I don't know, I can't nail it.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Yeah. I can see that.3WA chat is full of horrifying facts today. Did you know that women often poop during delivery?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Oh good god, people scare me. From the squishy thread abuot the mom in TExas:The government should have monitored this woman's health problems and taken her children away when she got depressed. That's almost certainly what would have happened where I live. Case workers (cos she would have been assigned one) certainly wouldn't have let her home school her kids, considering her mental health history.
The government should have in place programs to monitor mothers who suffer from severe postpartum. I think that's easy to implement because contact by a case worker can be made when the mother is discharged from the hospital after giving birth.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I just majorly b.s.ed my boss. I think I need to start getting some work done.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Uh, me too. I just spens an hour and a half at Allison's.Yeah, I know about the poop thing - my mother pooped when she had me (no comments, please). That's why a lot of ob/gyns have the nurses give the about-to-deliver mother an enema.
I mean, it makes sense, what with the pushing and all.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
It was a shocker to me. But then, my mother had all c-sections, so she might not even know.I was too put off by the mention of 'illergies' to read more Squishy forum today.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Ken Bethea (my old 97 Rock star fan) emailed me again. He is married and has a child. Darn. I was all set to dump Falafel just so they could play Question and propose to me live.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Did your burger and beer help you feel better about the Falafel situation?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
A little. I think I have malaise in general. I just worry- this is how it got before. I don't know. We'll see how the rest of the summer goes.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
See, you can't compare the past relationship, even when it's the same person. You're both in different places now.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
True. I just wonder if I'm still more extroverted and less 'mature' than I thought I was, and if he's still more introverted. Or something.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's a valid question. Have y'all talked any more since this weekend?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Not really- I've been working late and going to the gym. I think I'm going over to his place to cook dinner tonight, so we'll see.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
T's point about not comparing it to the past relationshiop is a good one.And sometimes your differences highlight the good in the other person, you know? Like his introvertedness highlights your fun, outgoingness and your extrovertedness highlights his quiet, likes to have nice nights at homeness. You need both in your life, right?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
True. I just feel like- I don't know. Like at Star Canyon, I knew he wasn't going to like most of the food and should have just backed out of the dim sum and let us do that and ordered a steak. Instead he just suffered through.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Or, he could have backed out of the dim sum and ordered a steak on his own.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Or, maybe he wanted to make things easier for you since it was your birthday trip.I don't know, y'all, I loved the dim sum-style eating. I do with I had just ordered another tamale, though, rather than the soup.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's what I meant. But he never thinks to do that, and I don't feel like I should have to always tell him. Or something.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Yeah, maybe he just thought that this was your trip and he didn't want to make waves. Are you saying it's because you feel like he doesn't stand up for himself? Or because he's too quiet?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
You don't have to always tell him. If you know he's going to be miserable, you could suggest that he may just want to order something on his own, but you're not obligated to. You're his girlfriend, not his mother.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I don't know. He doesn't talk a lot about things that bother him, and then gets aggrieved if I bring it up. Hadley doesn't think he has much of an inner life. I know that's not true, but he doesn't share it, at all. Which is frustrating for me. And he's not the type to, say, entertain himself easily if we're in a group and he doesn't know anyone. I don't know. I just worry that five years down the road he'll have nothing to say to me beyond "Anything I can do for you?" every five minutes and I'll go insane.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
oh, HE was saying that? I thought YOU were because you were trying to make him happy.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
No, he was saying that. He always says it. Which is sweet, but drives me up the wall some days.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
So basically you want him to think of himself more? Becuase by only thinking about you it makes you worry about him and it you both thought of yourselves too you wouldn't have this cycle?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Exactly. Like, I'm really, really capable of being overly focused on my needs, thanks. And if there is something I need from you, I'll let you know, I swear.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
What does he say when you say that?T - so you're having the sit-down rehersal dinner? Where?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Gah. I don't know why I'm so crabby about this.Anyway. We'll see. We have the rest of the summer.
Teri, it's stereotypical, but also typical of grooms- they don't want to do any of the work or make the decisions, but they want everything how they picture it anyway.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I haven't really said that in so many words this time around. I should.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Just say it. Mulling it doesn't accomplish anything.Really, nothing has been decided beyond the space. That's what I told Chris. They needed a space. Everything else is left. Sheesh.
And "Hawaii." The MOC laughed and laughed when he heard that.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Hawaii indeed.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Everything else is left to decide, I mean.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
So true. Maybe Charleston sucked up all his planning energy.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's the thing. I know he CAN plan - he made that very clear. And is is very, very busy. Still.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Well, I am sure he'll realize he has to do more soon. Maybe this will be a good wake-up call- you know, if he doesn't talk about it and make decisions, nothing will be like he wants it.And I can understand work being his #1 priority, during the work day. But that doesn't mean he can't find time in the rest of the day, you know?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I know. And when he said, "Why don't you talk to me about this more at night?" I had to tell him the truth, which is that every time I try to, he sighs his trademark sigh and acts like I'm really putting him out.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I hate that. Do you think he'd be more motivated/less aggravated if he just had some things to plan that he is in charge of?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Or maybe y'all can schedule "Wedding Talk" times?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's what I brought up this morning - that we have a set time where we talk about wedding stuff.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
And like with Hawaii - this afternoon, I said, "How about when we're in Florida, we make a run to the bookstore to look at books on Hawaii." He seemed to go for that.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's good. I think that's the best plan, that way he won't feel like he's being bombarded all the time. I am sure he WANTS to do it, but just thinks it's a time-suck. If he knows that this week, he has to spend these 2 hours planning this stuff, it's different.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
I think you're right. Like, for the drive down to Florida, we're both bringing out Palm Pilots so we can figure out who our guests will be.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
That's good. So where is the rehearsal dinner going to be?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
The Plimsoll Club - it's on top of the World Trade Center on the river. It's really a beautiful room - it overlooks the river and the city.
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Oh, nice. So it'll be catered there?
-- Anonymous, June 27, 2001
Yep - they do their catering in-house. My mother's been to many rehearsal dinners there - she loves it.
