Good time at the Energy Fair

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

Just thought I'd say a few words about the Energy Fair at Amherst, Wis, last weekend, now that we are home and recovering from the long days and late night discussions. I met "Jim in Mich", who looked around the camping area on the grounds until he found our faded red/orange and white VW bus--turns out I have talked to him many times over the last 8 to 10 years, and it was nice to talk again, including talking about this forum, and to see a photo of his place with the wind generator and the PV panels that power it.

Of course, the amount of information that was available was overwhelming as usual, and I feel rejuvenated by the workshops, exhibitors, and the regular people that I talked to.

Hope to see more of you there next year.

By the way, I think that most if not all of the states of the USA were represented (including Alaska and Hawaii), and many foreign countries (including Australia). I met a fellow from Connecticut who flew in for the show, and rented a car to get from the airport. He felt it was worthwhile to do this--also saw some friends from Arkansas who I know only from seeing them year after year at the Energy Fair, as they drive up with the family and make it a major vacation trip.

I was only able to go on Saturday (I usually go all three days) this year. I did manage to spot Ardie, so I got to meet her and her hubby. They were chatting with Dave B., so I got to meet him too. But I had to run off to a workshop, and I never spotted either of them again the rest of the day!

Jum, I looked around for you. were you supposed to be wearing a yellow bandana on some appendage? I looked at all appendages! LOL!! Yes, it was neat to meet Joy...now I can put a face to a post. I loved every minute of the Fair, but we had to leave about noon. The police were walking in as we left and I wondered if someone was caught smoking silly stuff! God bless!
