Playing Burned VCD on DVD players.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi! I have a DVD model Toshiba 1200. I am able to play VCD on it but recently when I tried playing it with burned VCD, I am not able to play the disc but the disc plays on computer. I have tried playing the source VCD on my DVD player and it works. Have I missed anything when I burned the VCD?

All help appreciated.

I just started with burning video cd's with the purpose of using them on my sony dvd player. I am using Nero software to burn. Burning and automatically encoding to the right mpeg format seems ok, but my dvd does not recgonize my burned cd.

Charity beginning in one's favorite forum, both those wretched DVD players do not recognize CD-R media, and CD-RW only marginally. Do trawl through the entries in this forum old and new, loves, at least those under "playing CD-R", and visiting www.vcdhelp.com for a list of DVD players that play and do not play which media won't hurt.

I am using a Mustek V300 DVD Player and viewing CD-R VCDs works fine. I am using Nero and VCD Version 1 Standard when burning.

Try Mr. Write CDRW 4X. It works on most DVD players.

I have a Toshiba SD1200 as well and it can't read CD-R's. I found a chart of DVD-VCD Compatability and it says to try Sony or Verbatim DataPlus CD-RW. I haven't tried this yet but they say it works. Also I read that Memorex CD-RW Platinum work fine as well. The chart is located at..http://www.redrobe.com/dvd/vcd.php Good Luck.
