how do you seperate cream from goats milk without a sperator?

It will take longer to do this than cows milk, because the cream particles are smaller, but if you keep it good and cold, you should be able to avoid a goaty taste. Also a fast chilldown after milking will help things move a little faster.

Hi stan, I agree with connie, a fast cool down after milking is essential. I milk the girls then bring it in the house, strain, then put in a glass jar and place in freezer for about 20 mins. then refridgeriate. i then move the milk into a shallow pan and wait overnite or if in am til later that day. i skim off cream and put cream in jar. then I refrig. cream and add til I get enough to do butter or whatever. hope this helps.

Before I got a separator I chilled the milk and let it set as suggested by the others . It seemed to work better however when I used a pan shallow pan that exposed a lot of the milk's surface, like a cake pan.
