No idle

15 years since I last owned a bike I finally gave in and bought another last week. It's a 2001 Honda CR 250. My problem is that it does not idle. If I dont give it any trottle (with the cluth in or bike stopped)it stalls after 2 or 3 seconds. As it was supposed to have been prepped by the dealer before being delivered I called them up for some advice. They told me that nowadays motocrossers are not suppose to idle. My manual says that to shut the bike off I have to push the stop button. This would seem superfluous if it supposed to shut itself off as soon as the throttle is shut off. The dealer also said that it does not have an idle screw. My manual says it has an "air screw" but my dealer told me not to touch it. I've only ridden the bike a couple of times so far out of my bback yard in tight twisty tree lined trails (i.e. very slow trails) and if I pull the clutch in and shut of the gas or when I've had to do the same because someone in front of me has to slow down I inevitably stall the engine. It seems unnatural to have to give trottle everytime I stop (especially when I'm grabbing front break as well). Does anyone have any comments. Are bikes really not supposed to idle!?!
