Doreen... HELP??!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Freedom! self reliance : One Thread

Well... Guessed I would start with some shorter topics, and posted my first salvage effort. It doesn't come up in nice neat lines, and I really don't have time to edit it to make it easier to read. Any suggestions?? I will try posting more on Wednesday, if I can do it before my folks get here...

PS: all I did was go over, highlight the whole thread, and pasted it here.

Sue, I can tell you what I did, but let me make sure the method I am going to reccommend works! The stuff might come out a tic differently than it read on CS, but the info will still be there.

Okay, this might be a long explanation for something that should be simple, but I will give it a try anyway!

I have Netscape...I opened a new folder on my desktop and gave the folder the name of the category that I wanted to download. Then I got online leaving that folder on the desktop. I then went to the category I wanted and opened it up. Clicked on the thread title...wait for it to load completely...then hit file at the top bar of the computer screen. It gives you some options. Then open the folder you want to save to hit save as and you should get a pop up bar displaying the downloading. This usually goes very quickly. Then when it's saved move on to the next topic and repeat.

Then I went to the archive addy and hit post a new question and kept the new folder open on the desktop behind the internet window. Fill out the info and then bring the open folder to the fore open the thread, highlight from the top to the bottom hit the back button, then paste the info into the text box and it should have the thread title at the top. Highlight the thread title and place it in the subject line...hit submit...let it load, hit back, open the folder from behind again and reapeat.

I'm sorry that I am not terribly good at explaining procedural things. I sure could show you! Maybe someone else can be of better assistance than I.

Sue, forget all that. I was trying to explain what I did was download it to my hard drive. Just copy and paste. It came up fine, it's easy and it'll work!
