extender for 4.0/300 L

I just bought the FD 4.0/300 L. Canon's recommendation as an extender for this lens is of course the 2A. Because I already own the 2B I wonder if it is worth the money to buy the 2A. Is there really a difference in the picture quality?

I have both extenders and I have the 300/4.0L, and if it's worth it to you to own the L version of the lens, you might as well get the 2X-A. It's a bit sharper than the 2X-B, and I've even stacked it with the 1.4x-A, and it's not too bad. With the 1.4X-A alone, it's outstanding--see examples at:
