New Delta 200

greenspun.com : LUSENET : B&W Photo - Film & Processing : One Thread

I've recently bought a the recently released (at least here in Argentina) Delta 200. I've found no info on it at Ilford's website nor does the box have any other instrutions than developement times for d-76, id-11 (which is the same, with a diferent name) and microophen. 8 minutes for 68 F for the three. I wanted to use XTol, so I developed it for 9 minutes in stock Xtol as if it were Delta 100. Ir turned out fine, but the overexposed shots had better tonality and shadow detail, with no damage to the highlights. So I think the actual film speed for this combination might be a little slower (somewere between 100 and 200). Has anyone tried this film or fim/developer combination?

Never heard of it. Typo or real?

I've certainly never heard of it. I'd be really interested in knowing about it if it does exist!

A quick search of Ilford's site tells me there is no Delta 200. Are you sure you aren't referring to SFX 200 (their infrared film)?

If it is fake, it is a pretty good fake. Thebox looks just like the other boxes of Delta, only it is 200. It also has that purplish tone that usually comes up when you don't fix delta or t-max films long enough. The only strange thing is that the only thing written on the film itself are the frame numbers, no ilford delta or anything else. The film has just been released here and only a few stores carry it. I've sent a couple of e-mail messages to ilford tech support, but there was no answer.

Companies sometimes do test marketing in small areas. Go to the store where you got the film and try to get the phone # of their distributor.

Delta 200 is an actual ILFORD product. It was a one off trial film, distributed to South America only. ILFORD has no current plans to continue to produce a Delta 200.

What a shame - I've always felt 200 is an ideal speed for many situations. I'd buy it by the bucket load! Is there any way of getting hold of some?

Ed, I haven't even seen this film myself. My understanding is that the entire batch went to South America. The only way I know of for you to get some is to find a friend down there.

Sorry.
