Life like proto 2000 E8A

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ACL and SAL Railroads Historical Society : One Thread

I am attempting to locate a Life Like Proto 2000 E8A lettered for ACL in the Purple and silver scheme stock # 8183 or 8184 released between 1994 and 1996 rd # 500 or 532. This is the last one I need to complete my roster of SAL and ACL E units. (wanted mint in box)

There are two of these currently listed on E-Bay,under "Proto 2000". I think the starting bid is $44.95 each and they are described as new in the box. One of each road number.I have three or four of them because I wanted the complete Proto 2000 line up of ACL products, BUT, the E-8's are certainly not up to current Proto 2000 standards for authenticity.I bought them cheap and figured I would try to redo the paint one of these days.Figured I couldn't do much worse.

Jerry, are you aware that these engines do not have the correct ACL colors on them? The pin stripes are gold and not yellow as they should be. The purple is very, very, light and would be considered a very faded shade. Life Like did not work with the society when they produced the locos and they refused to make them right for those of us who bought them.

I have both road numbers mint in the box that I would be happy to sell to you.
