Hay and/or grazing in NW Green County, WI

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Countryside : One Thread

I just bought 20 acres on Hwy 39 in extreme NW York Township, in NW Green County, WI and my son-in-law and daughter bought the neighboring 21 acres and a friend is in the process of buying 11 acres on the south edge of my daughter's land. Over the next couple of years we plan to have two fully earth sheltered homes and one conventional home built out there with the intention of homesteading, woodlot, garden, orchard, farm critters, pond, etc. You know the drill.

For right now this 52 acres of land is in pasture and some woods with a mixture of just about everthing growing from alfalfa to Canadian thistle. There has been no first cutting of hay this year and it needs it bad. A decent barb wire fence borders the north, south, and part of the west property lines. Hwy 39 forms the east border. No electricity yet and no water yet. So unless you trucked in water every day or so, grazing might not be an option.

We're looking for someone with which we can come to some sort of arrangement (doesn't necessarily have to be cash) to put this hay and pasture to good use for awhile. The woods are NOT available for logging and the like.

Any takers with interesting ideas?

Please disregard. I have found a farmer that is willing to pay me $60/acre for this season's hay.
