RE: A Patriot is Dead thread.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unk's Wild Wild West : One Thread

As Anita and another poster astutely realized, I did not start that thread.

I have not posted to it, nor will I post to it.

J,

I posted to it right away out of raw emotion -- I knew it didn't sound like you at all, and I'm glad to hear it wasn't. Sorry you've got a troll -- and if the troll posted what he/she believed -- an insane one at that.

-- Eve (eve_rebekah@yahoo.com), June 11, 2001.

You may not like my opinions, anonymous coward, but they are my own, and no one else's. You can impersonate me all you want but I refuse to hide my opinions for your comfort, or the comfort of anyone else for that matter.

While you're dealing with the fact that we differ on Tim McVeigh, may I suggest you get your own handle? Someday you too might grow up and take responsibility for your own statements!

Eve, I'm sorry for any confusion my troll has caused. If you still consider me insane, I'm open to discussing your opinion so long as it doesn't devolve into ad hominem attacks. Maybe we should move this to the other thread in hopes of discouraging troll boy?

-- J (Y2J@home.comm), June 11, 2001.

J's troll,

Why are you using his handle? My feeling is that you have an enormous, unsatisfied need for attention and it's an effective way to get it. Right?

Get over it Eve. Remember where you are.....anything goes!

-- Telinet (like@it.is), June 11, 2001.

Eve,

I was appalled by J's support of Timothy McVeigh's act of terrorism. Through amending the record, so to speak, I hope to either change J's opinion that McVeigh is a patriot or drive his terrorist supporting ass back under the rock he crawled out from under.

-- J (Y2J@home.comm), June 11, 2001.

Except that all you did was deliberately reword his argument and post under his name. The only result of which was increased sympathy for Y2J, much the opposite of what you intended.

Perhaps next time you should just argue the points presented under a more original name.

-- J (Y2J@home.comm), June 11, 2001.

No, I turned his arguments on their head. Every time you read a post from someone claiming to be J that is critical of McVeigh, that is me. Every post you read that calls McVeigh a hero and/or patriot, that is the real J. I try to catch every post he makes and post as him disavowing his arguments but I can't catch every one. That's why I started this thread.

J = J

I did not write the above.

Let me see if I get this straight. In order to either change J's mind or drive him from the forum, you began posting the exact opposite of whatever positive things he said about McVeigh, pretending to be J to disavow his comments. Did it not occur to you that in the process you could harden his position and his resolve, erase whatever allies you might find here, and confuse the bloody hell out of everyone?

No, he originally posted the positive comments about McVeigh in a silly attempt to villify J. When his obvious impersonating was discovered, he changed his tune to say that any post you see that is critical of McVeigh is really the impersonator. The only problem is that there aren't any posts that are critical of McVeigh attributed to J in any form. The stupid impersonator doesn't even realize this.

J didn't start this thread to say he was critical of McVeigh. He started it to say that he didn't write the other thread. I think the impersonator should learn to read.

True. J has never, in any form at all, actually denounced McVeigh. That's pretty damning. J is quick to distance himself from the more extreme praise of McVeigh (unless, of course, J is quick to praise McVeigh and his troll is quick to distance him), but when asked about his true feelings on the bombing, he brings up Ruby Ridge and Waco as though they were justification for what Oklahoma City.
