Doreen and all, Try the following for the grasshopers

NEEM Oil is approved for certified organic growing, but it's kind of pricey $1/oz.

Horehound plants act as a natural repellent

Garlic Oil Spray (heavy infusion)-Mix 3 oz. galic cloves w/1 oz. mineral oil. Soak 24 hours. Strain.

Then mix 1 tsp. fish emulsion w/16 oz. water Add 1 T. castille Sap to this.

Then slowly combine fish emulsion mixture with garlic oil. Keep sealed in a glass jar, and it will last several months.

To use: 2T garlic oil mixture to 1 pint (16 oz.) water and spray.

DE- Diatomaceous earth

Pepper Spray- Jalapenos or Habaneros mixed with water and 1T Castille soap

Caffeine Spray- 10times strength coffee as a spray.

Sink glass jars into the soil. Fill with molasses and water mixed 1 part molasses to 10 water. Fill jars with the mix. Grasshoppers will be attracted to the sweet smell and will fall in and drown. Hope this helps. Best of Luck,

Years ago I used to raise a few turkeys every year. For a couple of summers, we had a bad grasshopper problem. I turned my turkeys loose every day, and they took care of the grasshoppers, plus it cut down considerably on the amount of feed I had to purchase for the turkeys. Not to mention it entertained my children to no end.....have you ever watched a turkey try to run?
